I teach mathematics to eighth grade students. Over 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch and have a home language other than English. Approximately 15% of my current students have a specific learning disability. In spite of socioeconomic status, family issues, and/or learning disabilities, my students are motivated to attain as much knowledge as possible. Although our school has a student population of about 800, we currently have the following items to prepare our students for college and a career in the 21st century: one classroom set of tablets, one computer lab, and approximately four classroom sets of 8 to 10-year-old laptops.
