3D printing is a very valuable tool for engaging students in mathematics and providing them with motivation to master many technical topics in the math classroom. Students will be able to create and print a variety of math manipulatives to solve math problems. This will save money in the long run as well as purchasing issues. These 3D printed manipulatives will be able to be used over and over again for future students and if one is lost or broken, they can easily be replaced by printing another one.
Having a hands on approach in math can be life-changing for many students and help better understand many math concepts .
In addition, my students will be able to use the 3D printers in the geometry unit. My students will also get to build their own models/shapes to help students experience math concepts in new ways, and also allow me to differentiate instruction for my students who struggle with abstract math concepts.
