When you sit down at work, are you comfortable? Can you concentrate? Are you free from distractions? Are you motivated to put forth your best effort? My goal is to set an environment for my class that not only feels like a home away from home, but is clean, sophisticated, distraction free, motivating and organized. For a growing mind, this environment is ideal in order to focus on the most important part of the day's learning. Not only do I believe this environment will allow students to focus best on their work and goal achieving, but it will also teach them to respect their surroundings, live a clean and organized lifestyle and explore their different learning styles. With flexible seating at tables rather than desks, students will have the ability to choose their seats on a daily basis. The different types of seating such as swivel chairs, balance balls and wobble stools, will allow students to feel most comfortable, focus on their learning and discover their most effective learning style/environment. This will encourage the children to work together, sit with new people everyday, work in a variety of different groups and encourage responsibility and respect for one another and their surroundings. With your support, you can help to transform the typical and boring classroom that we all often dread in our past, into a place of comfort and passion for discovering and learning.
