My students attend a public school in Northern California and come from a broad range of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Students vary as widely in their academic levels as well. Needless to say, meeting the needs of such a broad range of learning levels requires a creative arsenal of teaching strategies. The diversity within the class is reflective of the overall population of our school. My first graders are always energetic, good humored, and eager to learn.
