I am requesting 3 magnetic white boards to help interpret graphs and demonstrate their knowledge.
I am excited to start a project with my students for the 2016-2017 school year. I want the students to be more active in the classroom. In planning this project, I thought of numerous ways to get each student out of their seat and more involved. The magnetic white board was my first thought. I often use the projector in class to show videos, such as experiments, demonstrations, graphs, maps and diagrams. I thought to myself, what would be a way to incorporate their thoughts more into the lessons.
By adding magnetic white boards to my classroom, I would be able to use various teaching strategies that I have not tried yet. If I were to give each student a magnet, they could place magnets on graphs to show they understand the data being presented. Also, it would be great to actually project onto a clear surface and not a scratched up tile board.
I feel that using the magnets on a daily basis would hold the students' attention, as well as make them eager to learn more. I could also allow the students to create visuals for projects and they can also use the magnets to check with the classmates for understanding, or even to simply participate more. Some students are shy to say their thoughts outloud, this may help those kids.
Lastly, one of the huge things that I incorporate is labeling diagrams. The magnetic board would be helpful for that, as well as drawing using nice colored markers to label and even show graphing data. I hope that you will consider funding my Magnetic Mania idea.
