Twenty-nine 5th graders walk through my classroom door every day. They come in smiling and are ready to be inspired. Those smiles are what makes my heart glow; the smiles from children who work against all odds to succeed. They come from economically challenged home situations and from challenges that we cannot even begin to fathom. Yet, they still walk into my room ready and willing to learn.
More than half of my class is still relatively new to the English Language and are still working at being proficient in their second language. We work together as a team to teach and learn from each other.
