I teach in an inner city school in Kansas City, Missouri, and my students are amazing human beings! They love to take learning into their own hands and create goals for themselves! This year, I would like my students to have an opportunity to use The Daily 5 in our classroom. In order to implement The Daily 5, we must have the right supplies! The Daily 5 is a way for students to be engaged in writing, reading, and word work every day while I'm working with small reading groups.
My students attend a very multicultural school, with a majority of our students having a Hispanic background, and many are English Language Learners. Our school even has a New Americans classroom where most students have never been in school before! Our school serves low-income families; over 80% of our students are on free and reduced lunch.
Our class LOVES to read, and I want to continue to foster their love for reading by creating a comfortable, friendly environment for them to be just be themselves
