Our classroom is a play based classroom. In a play based program, students are given the choice to explore activities based on their current interests. In a play based classroom the room is spilt into different centers; block center, science center, art center, sensory table, library, and dramatic play. We incorporate academic skills through theme based activities and add theme based props to classroom learning centers. Play is the best way for children to process information. Play based learning helps children develop social skills, motivation to learn, language, numeracy skills, developing children's social and emotional skills that is related to the learning skills developed by the teachers and students, and will prepare children for formal schooling.
