I work in a large urban high school with our CBI population. CBI stands for community based instruction. We work with students with significant cognitive challenges. Our goal is to prepare our youngsters for the real world. I supervise a work experience lab where the students explore over 260 real world jobs. We assess their strengths and prepare them for the work place. One of our challenges is keeping up with technology. Our antiquated computers are slow and frustrating for the students. I would like to provide computers that all my students could access and that would represent something they may see out in the community. A touch screen monitor would allow students with dexterity challenges improved access.
