My students attend a public school in an inner city neighborhood. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Sadly, many of my students struggle with basic academic skills and come to school unprepared to master the given material. Many of my students are not read to at home and have no one to help them with their academics. Because of this, the majority of my students need extra help with their phonics and reading, and I must find new inventive ways to motivate them to succeed in order to fill the gap.
