I teach in the 3rd largest urban, public school district in the nation. My students come from diverse backgrounds: Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and travel mostly via public transportation to attend our school. Over 50% of my students are designated as low income and receive free/reduced price lunch which makes purchasing basic school supplies difficult. Through teaching a world language, I get to bring world culture into our classroom and use communicative lessons to develop the critical thinking skills of my students - who are part of a global community and moving toward post secondary education.
