Each of these resources will serve as a tool to enhance my students learning in the classroom. My students LOVE using their dry erase boards as a learning resource. We use dry erase boards frequently to practice phonics and to solve math problems. Right now, my students use kleenex to erase their boards each time, and so reusable dry erasers will be a huge improvement!
Similarly, we are starting to move into guided reading, and therefore highlighters will be a great resource for students to have for annotating the text. It is crucial that the students are able to cite strong evidence, and the highlighters will help students be able to quickly note evidence and then be able to go back and revisit it later.
Finally, my students are amazingly creative. During our indoor recess each day, they are eager to do coloring sheets or to free draw. I would love to provide each student with a pack of markers to not only use for free time but to also use to help with math and reading. Providing each student with markers will allow them to use them in math by using different colors to represent different components of story problems and much more.
My students deserve the best education, and by providing them with these additional learning resources it will brighten up their day as well as make their learning even more meaningful to them.
