My school is the top ranking ELL (English Language Learner), ESE (Exceptional Student Education), and students with free or reduced rate lunch in the district. Over the past two years our school’s instructional focus has been to increase student achievement in the area of reading comprehension school-wide. With 78% of my schools' students achieving academic proficiency, it is our goal to increase our percentage. My students are very diverse when it comes to learning styles and student abilities. Out of my 16 students, five are ELL (English Language Learner), five are ESE (Exceptional Student Education) special needs (such as Dyslexia, Learning Disabled, and Autism), and six who need enrichment in either reading or math. My students' willingness to help each other is undeniable. They all learn from one another and build on each other's strengths and weaknesses.
