I am a general education teacher who has taught in an ICT classes as for 9 years. I will be teaching in a 3rd ICT class this school year. I am excited to get back into the classroom. For a year in a half our students’ lives have been interrupted with covid-19. Students have had to come up with ways to focus on learning virtually, many times it was a struggle.
I am asking for a class library that will be centered around diversity which will allow my students to see themselves in the stories they read. It is important that students have a chance to read books about people who look just like them, talk like them, and have the same beliefs and values. As there are also valuable lessons to read about people from different backgrounds. The students in my class are eager to learn about people and places outside of their community. Having a culturally diverse library the students will be able to read books that celebrate our differences such as language, culture, race, gender and special needs. With your help we can bring these amazing books into my classroom.
