Our third graders are voracious readers, inspired writers, inquiry-based scientists, and mathematicians of multiple methods. Through reading and writing, they set out to change their world as they create petitions, editorials, letters, and speeches about self-selected causes. Through mathematics and science-inquiry, they explore mathematical reasoning, and the affect of changing variables to better understand their physical world. Their sense of what it means to have a growth-mindset increases as they take on more challenging and rewarding collaborative work.
