Every day my fabulous students come to school excited and ready to learn. One thing that I have always noticed is their constant need to move, stand, lay on the floor or alternate their seating. Just like adults, children get tired of sitting all day, especially in hard metal chairs.
Studies show that flexible seating for students can increase their learning by 27%! In a low-income school this can mean the difference of remedial classes or advanced learning. I feel like it is my duty to give them every opportunity for advancement as possible.
With this project, my students will have a variety of seating options to meet their individual learning needs; anything from standing, sitting on wobble chairs or pillow cushions to benches and a carpet to lay on. This will help my students stay actively engaged in their learning throughout the day. I cannot wait to see what doors this will open up for them in the future!
