My students need a place to cool down and relax when overwhelmed. My cool-down sensory corner equipped with soft sensory mats, a calming light projector and a relaxing tent will help my students by providing them a place to recollect and process their emotions when they are feeling overwhelmed during the school day. Teaching children to take a break when they are feeling overwhelmed is a necessary skill for school and for life. When they are able to relax and process their emotions they are able to return back to the lesson, cool, calm, and collected. The cool-down corner will never be a punishment or time-out. Instead, it will be somewhere they can diffuse their emotions and relax before a situation escalates.
