"Come to rug." I say this when I need to share any important news or any daily learning with my students. However, my students respond by saying "Ms. Ji, we don't have a rug." We laugh. "Come to rug" is a signal for my students to indicate that it is now the learning time. But since we don't have our rug anymore, it is a small joke that my students share with me in my classroom.
My students need a new rug. Students are more alert and attentive when they are on the rug during learning time. Students can easily turn-and-talk to their partners to share their knowledge during sharing time on their new rug. In addition, students need a nice cozy area to read. A new rug will definitely help to provide the students to find a nice cozy area to enjoy reading.
