I teach to a high needs population, children that come from all walks of life. I want them to come into the classroom and feel like this is something different and feel safe and loved at school. There are plenty of students who have trouble focusing and I believe that flexible seating will help the students focus and have fun at the same time.
I already let my students choose how they want to learn whether in a chair or on the carpet or a beach chair. I want to give my student's endless opportunities to learn. Especially at a Title 1 school, I want to give them all the opportunities to enjoy learning as much as they can! Ultimately, sharing these spaces and learning to communicate in the classroom helps with social-emotional skills that they need to practice.
