Community circle times help build relationship skills, social/emotional skills, and the understanding of what good citizenship looks like, feels like, and is in relation to what we as individuals do to help build our community and relate to our community of communities as a whole. The floor mats will be used at the minimum of twice per day or more at the introduction to class time and closing the day with circle time to help bring interconnectedness and belonging to each student. Circles benefit students to help guide in the learning of how to solve problems through critical thinking and reasoning, listening, taking turns, learning how to respect each other through compassion, empathy, and empowering each other. The floor mats are essential for the functioning of our class, helping students heal from traumatic life experiences, and will be used as therapy as a whole community of good citizens that are learning positive ways to relate and understand each other.
