So many times students feel that reading is a chore and forced upon them. I would like to create a warm and inviting classroom for my students to learn in.
Being at a Title I school, beautiful is not always the word one would use to describe the classrooms. I believe if you give students a beautiful environment they will take pride in their school and their education. It says, "You're worth it."
If they had a nice, cool, relaxing space they could go and enjoy reading their book choice it would lay the foundations of creating life long readers. For this reason I have chosen four bean bag chairs to place in the classroom library section of the classroom so that students may have comfortable seating to use while reading during independent reading time and during small group. Likewise, the carpet and pillows will be use as additional seating for those who would like to sit on the floor while they read. This will give my students fun options to choose from instead of having to sit in their desk the entire class period.
