Help me help my students succeed in learning Spanish. By providing daily free voluntary reading (FVR) time, in conjunction with use of the vocabulary in context in class, students will become more comfortable and successful in speaking Spanish. Students will start out spending three to five minutes of class reading their own selected book. They will be asked to score the book from 1-10 and give a short review. FVR will be their transition into the target language. This will help maximize the use of the target language.
Books such as the requested "Time for Kids Nonfiction Readers" are a perfect way to build a student's imagination and writing skills. By providing a wide variety of subjects, students will get well rounded exposure to Spanish vocabulary used in context. Reading is an essential part of learning any language. Whether it is your first or fifth language, reading increases your vocabulary as well as comprehension. Reading something you are interested in doubles the progress. As parents we have read to our children as a way of entertainment and to help them wind down at the end of the night. Additionally, we are increasing our children's vocabulary as well as building their creativity. This will create out of the box thinkers!
