My students are a mixed ability regular education classroom of PHENOMENAL fourth graders. My students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds and have varying interests in everything from sports to music to robotics.
My school is incredibly supportive of teacher and student learning and will support what is best for children on a daily basis. Teachers and students, alike, learn from each other and as we learn, we implement and improve in our own classrooms. Reading is fundamental at our school and is a school-wide focus this year. My students LOVE to read and I am really proud of the fact that they are reading not only to learn but for pleasure as well. There are many days when I tell them it is time for lunch that I am met with groans because they are so engrossed in their reading.
My students learn responsibility in a variety of ways, from choosing books to studying for tests to choosing where to sit when working collaboratively with others.
