I am a member of a program called Urban Teachers; a preparation program that molds individuals into highly qualified teachers in high-need, urban schools. As a member of Urban Teachers I have learned that in order to rightfully serve my students I need to be able to meet their needs and beyond through guidance and maximum support as their teacher. During the 2015-2016 school year I have served 1 year as a resident teacher while taking classes toward my Masters degree in Education and Special Education. Through my residency year and 18+ courses toward my degrees I have gained so much information about not just education, but teaching in urban settings. This 2017-2018 school year, not only am I grateful to be getting my rising 3rd graders for another year, but to also transfer the knowledge I have gained into actions within in my own classroom will make all this preparation well worth my students' time!
