I am requesting a set of 24 Reading Phones to be shared between my two reading classes. A Toobaloo is a phone-like device that allows students to clearly hear themselves when they speak softly into it. In 3rd grade, one area we focus on is our fluency in reading. In order to become strong readers, we have to practice reading with expression and putting all of our strategies into play.
Having a Reading Phone will significantly improve the fluency, comprehension, and pronunciation in my students reading. My students need to have the opportunities to hear themselves read and practice pronouncing certain words and phrases. By listening to themselves, they will be provided with a learning opportunity to critique themselves. This tool will help build confident reader who have great expectations set for themselves as readers.
