I teach in a 4th grade inclusion classroom. There are 25 students in this class, 8 are exceptional education students. In this classroom, ESE (Exceptional Student Education) students participate with general education students during the entire school day. Most of my ESE students do not read on grade level. In fact many are two or more years behind. As a result they are not able to complete assignments independently. In order for them to participate and be successful in this setting they need different types of supports to motivate them and increase their independence.
