My students are part of a very small school community in a very rural area; we are also considered a high poverty school. Our school has an awesome, small community atmosphere. We care about each other, and it is common to hear students asking teachers about their weekend or how their family is and vice versa. One of the best things about our school is our amazing students!
In my classroom I teach Social Studies to grades 6-12 and a core support course. Social Studies for me covers the areas of geography, U.S. history, World History, civics, economics, and personal finance. My students and I love to discuss current events and relate it to what we are currently learning. My students are hard-working, inquisitive, and love to learn. They strive to do their very best every day. I learn as much from them as they do from me. We do as many activities as possible to make Social Studies fun, interesting, and relevant.
