I teach 8th grade in Baltimore City. There are many challenges in my environment, but my students' desire to learn is not one of them. I am lucky enough to be in a Blue Ribbon Title One Public School, which means while our children are from the lowest income bracket, our test scores are phenomenal. My students work really hard; however, reading comprehension is a huge struggle for them.
