I teach in a very poor school district in New Jersey, it is one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. I currently teach 18 second grade students. Sometimes just getting to school for my students is a challenge. Over the years I have provided them with shoes, coats an other necessities when they have needed them. My school has very limited supplies. I have to purchase pencils, notebooks, crayons, tissues and much more. Every Christmas for the past 14 years my husband and I have given each child in my class a personalized holiday gift, on that day many of them say that is the best day of their life!! I love teaching them and despite their hardships these children have a love for learning.
