I am a new first-year teacher. I have had a lot of support from my colleagues and administration through this transition from being a student teacher. I have got a lot of second-hand items (books, posters, supplies, and furniture) which I am very grateful for. I have a large class of 28 students and the majority of them are avid readers. My small classroom library ranges in books that are appropriate for grade levels 3-6.
Being that a fourth of my class is in the gifted and talented program, I am struggling to provide books that are challenging or engaging for higher level readers.
I would like to be able to give my students opportunities to grow. I would also like to have various genres of various reading levels to make sure I am able to reach the needs of all students interests.
