Our students are special in their own way. We do everything we can to bring that to the forefront of their education. We celebrate differences and uniqueness. We serve students with a variety of needs. Some students have learning disabilities, sensory processing needs, and emotional regulation needs.
We are always doing our best to be up to date with new, engaging, and research based practices.
Current research has proven that regular physical activity and behavior rehearsals help students improve their self-regulation skills. Many schools in our districts have a room dedicated to this practice. UPDATE: We now have a space and we are calling it our Motor Room! My students need access to yoga mats, activity mats, soft bean bags, and yoga and mindfulness activities to learn and practice their self regulation skills.
Our teachers work incredibly hard to do everything in their power to give their students the best opportunities to learn and grow. Our staff works together in so many formats and have had a lot of success. As we move towards a more inclusive school, the general education and special education teachers have begun to explore co-teaching models and the most effective and efficient ways to provide in-class support to our students.
