My students come from a community where less than five percent qualify to go to college. Despite this, my students are willing to rise above this statistic. Most are first generation college-bound students who are challenging the cycle. Several of my students come from disadvantaged backgrounds including: foster care, single-family homes, parent/s in jail, juvenile records, poverty, and much more. Some of these students have been hurt in their pasts and they still carry these pains with them. Despite these challenges, they are dedicated to rising above it and making it to college. Given this drive, I want to help them in every way; this includes giving them access to technology to use in conjunction with the high level of curriculum they are currently taking.
