The Magna-Tiles will provide many opportunities for my students to develop and practice skills in mathematics and science. My students will work with them during our independent exploration at the end of each school day. The students will have daily opportunities to create and test their scientific reasoning through play. They will be able to explore 2-D and 3-D shapes which will develop their spatial reasoning. They will be able to develop and practice important math skills, such as measurement, comparison, and number sense.
The Magna-Tiles will not only support their academic development, but support their social-emotional growth. The students will have opportunities to collaborate, problem-solve, and socialize with their peers. They will work together to build 2-D and 3-D structures that will promote friendship, team work, and social skills that will allow them to be successful in their education and life.
