My students are a group of second graders who are still learning to become fluent readers. Most of my students are still acquiring English. Many of them lack books at home, or don’t have anyone to read to them. Our school is a Title 1 school with over 80% receiving free or reduced lunches. Therefore, poverty is also an issue that they face. Each day they work hard to obtain the necessary skills of reading. My students are eager to learn and are excited about coming to school. I want to continue building on their enthusiasm for learning to read.
