Each item already has a home since it is a replacement of what was lost during Hurricane Harvey. Our middle school has had to move into the high school's spare rooms and has bare walls with zero appeal to 7th and 8th graders.
Replacing what was lost due to Hurricane Harvey, my students need visual representation of what a varied past the State of Texas has had. They need to be able to touch it, and see it on a daily basis with this visual timeline.
Additionally, they need soft lighting since at this point all we have is the harsh overhead lights, which makes it difficult to watch any videos without a glare. I have also included an entryway table so that students can easily pick up their papers required for the class instead of the box bottoms that we are currently using. The pirate stuff is mostly for fun, but they will be super excited with it when we cover the lesson on Pirates in Galveston.
