NJ Maker's Day and having a Makers Area in the School Library is something my students constantly bring up in the library! They want to build, code and create things that allows them to think outside the box. I believe ALL my students in both schools have the right to have access to programs and materials that will enhance their classroom learning and help them sharpen skills that can help them in future careers.
With your generous support we can combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. It is an amazing experience to watch students work together learning or sharing skills they have acquired with each other. With the robotics and building materials they will be able to use science and engineering skills they are learning in order to code and physically put together their robot. Using origami, coloring and other art supplies, students can work on their Occupational Therapy Skills and create pieces by following a set of directions. Younger students can learn the basics of coding by using a maker kit that includes simple coding instructions. A green screen will allow students to create book trailer videos in library class, music videos with the music and band teacher as well as stop motion videos with their robots using creative backgrounds. Makers activities bring students together in learning social skills, team building and STEAM subjects as well!
