I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Alum Rock district. I love the area where I work because I feel that I am able to make a huge impact on my student's lives. It is amazing to me the bonds that I form with them in such a short period of time. Many of my students come back and visit me after years and I consider many of their parents my friends.
My students lives are filled with challenges. They come from low income homes and their families share living spaces with others in order to pay the bills. They deal with negative influences everyday. Life is a lot tougher for them than when I was growing up.
However, they have great character! They're loving and hard workers. They want better though they don't know how to get it. That is where I come in, I am their guide. I feel blessed to be able to watch them grow wiser and more independent each year.
Teaching is a difficult but rewarding job! Thank you!
