This is my first time teaching ELA in the USA. I will be teaching 10th and 12th grade in an all boys school in Detroit. The school is a public school and quite an old building. I really want my students to feel welcome, comfortable, inspired and safe in my room.
Therefore, I would like to have a corner with a couch for when we feel a little tired or need a break or just simply want to sit somewhere else. A small table along with it would be perfect.
I also see bookshelves and a mini-library in my classroom that should inspire young men to read! Therefore I need shelving items and of course appealing books! Furthermore, I am planning on having posters, motivational, inspirational quotes and pictures of leaders who inspire us decorating the walls.
