The students in room 13 all have desks to learn from. Thats one place, one group of students(4) to collaborate with. This is effective for watching lessons on the Document Camera. The movable learning tool will help me customize where we will be learning in the classroom.
This tool will give me closer proximity, and a better view of the students work. In a carpet setting, I am able to informally and formally assess their comprehension of the lesson quickly due to close proximity. This allows me to move on, or re-teach the lesson as needed.
Currently, when teaching math, my students use small dry erase boards at their desks to solve math problems. I walk around the room checking their work. If I had a smaller, movable dry erase board, the students would be closer in proximity on the carpet. This creates a new place to learn, new classmates to learn with and a better way for me to assess student work. These 8 year olds need movement and change to keep engaged. I believe this tool will greatly impact student learning in my classroom.
