I teach in a Title 1 Tier 1 school in a low income neighborhood. I teach 16 students in grades K-2 in a self-contained classroom for students with specific learning disabilities and intellectual disabilities. My students struggle with retaining academic information that they have learned and they benefit from structure, but also need a safe way to exhort their extra energy since they are constantly on the move. In my classroom they are also learning social and behavioral skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
