My students are third graders in a small town in North Carolina. Our school is a Title 1 school with a low socio-economic and transient population. 99% of the children receive free/reduced lunch. Students are provided food bags for the weekends. The school has a family resource center to support families. Many of our students are faced with social and emotional instability situations. In spite of this, they are excited and eager to learn.
We have a blocking schedule in the third grade at our school. Therefore, I am able to work with all 55 of our third grade students. They represent various home backgrounds and life experiences with a broad level of ability and development. It is an honor to get to know, work with and reach that many students each year.
