In a world of digital cameras and cell phone photography, most of my students rarely convert digital images to something tangible. Currently, we are forced to send our images out to print and this is a costly endeavor that limits the amount of what we can print. When we do display actual images, students are excited to both look at and finally keep their images.
Giving my students access to a photo printer would mean the difference between making a photograph as opposed to simply taking it. With a class photo printer students would have the opportunity to learn how to print their digital images and create a physical body of work for their personal portfolios.
