I am so fortunate to be teaching Kindergarten in the same city and school district that I grew up in. The school that I work at is a title 1 school with students coming in with all different backgrounds, skills, and strengths. In this classroom, we value our differences, encourage each other to try our best, and always look for ways to have fun while still learning. This year I am blessed to have a class full of motivated children. They are excited to come to school and learn, and I do my best to make the curriculum as exciting and engaging as possible. For example, when learning sight words, we don't just trace the words on worksheets, we sing songs, build the words in play-doh, stamp the words, and even lace them on string. I believe fostering a love for school and learning at this age is so important, so I want to do everything I can to support this mindset.
