Given that many of my students are English Language Learners from various backgrounds, using tools like OSMO Language and Math games can serve as another resource to make learning more accessible, AND EXCITING, within the classroom. This exposure will not only help them strengthen their academic skills, but kickstart their experience with technology!
As a kindergarten teacher, so much of we teach our students is developmental and foundational - their success starts here! Their exposure with STEM tools will introduce students to a constantly growing field of careers that is in need of more and more individuals everyday! These skills will also be necessary in the years to follow, so what better time to start than now?
Using OSMO tools will get students excited about learning and working together to achieve a common goal -- whether it be figuring out complex tangram puzzles, or working together to build words! While we do have a few iPads provided by the school, having an additional iPad will allow students more time and opportunity to benefit from this learning experience. Furthermore, the headphones will allow students to work in the same space without risking the loss of focus or engagement while they work on these different programs and projects.
Providing these students with the opportunity to explore learning through different means and methods sets them up to be flexible learners who are ready for the unpredictable! They will get to strengthen their problem solving and collaboration skills as they experience this new feat, together!
