I teach kindergarten at a low-income school in downtown San Diego. We are a dual language academy with a 50/50 model. My classroom is composed of both English-only speakers and English language learners with the home language of Spanish. I teach Langauage Arts, social studies and science in Spanish to 26 students, then they go to their English teacher for Language Arts, math, and health in English. I then, teach another group of 26 students in Spanish. In total, I have 52 students that are willing to become fully bilingual in academic English and Spanish. They are well-spirited and come ready to learn everyday.
