I am a Special Education Teacher for students with moderate to severe disabilities. Many of our students come from economically-challenged homes. My students definitely do not have it easy, but they are stronger than I could ever be.
Just like individual fingerprints, no two students in my classroom are alike. They learn in all different ways and at different levels. In order to help my students become successful successful, I teach my students the way they learn best. We often modify and adapt curriculum and materials in order to meet the needs of our students. More often than not, I am creating my own materials that are individualized for each student. Though this takes a lot of time, planning, and resources I am happy to do it.
Special Education is my passion and though it isn't always easy, watching my students successfully meet their goals makes it all worth while.
