Students need paper! In my English classroom, marking up and annotating text is a key component of learning. Students learn to process their thinking and improve their reading comprehension by writing on text. In my classroom, I regularly copy chunks of text from the stories and books we are reading so that students can annotate the text for the essential questions and ideas in the text. This paper not only helps students process their thinking, but it helps me see their thinking as a teacher, and it allows me to target my teaching because I know what students are thinking. This is especially helpful for students who do not orally process information easily, and it can help build their writing skills since they are regularly writing in class.
By donating to this project, you will help my middle schoolers improve their critical thinking skills that will help prepare them for their next educational journey in high school and beyond. All students deserve the resources and materials that will make learning easier and more accessible. Paper is one of the most basic necessities in a classroom, and my students deserve paper to help them learn and organize their themselves and their thinking. This project will help enhance the learning for all students in my classroom by providing them with the resources they need to learn and grow!
