I am a school social worker at Sawyer Elementary. I work closely with about 50 students ranging from PK to 8th grade helping them with social skills, emotional regulation, and more! I service students in English & Spanish. My projects are aimed toward the students on my caseload, as well as, school-wide positive behavior systems because ultimately I work with the whole school population. The more preventative tools that we have in place at school, the less crisis I respond to in a school year! We currently have calm corners in every classroom at Sawyer to help students regulate their emotions while in the classroom and this 2023-2024 school year we have re-launched a positive behavior system to help them with motivation for academics and their behavior. It is working! I am also venturing out to after school programs to give students a creative outlet and a safe space to go to. Thank you for considering the help!
