Most of my students are from Mexico and the Golden Triangle - Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. I have one student from Yemen.
Some of my students are performing above grade level, and some are so close to being on grade level - I know they will continue to do well on state tests this year.
Many of my students are English Language Learners - many even were born in this country, but grew up in a Spanish speaking community and are new to English.
I have a few students with interrupted formal education - at the start of the school year, one child could not read in any language or count, and she can now multiply multi-digit numbers! She is so determined and hungry to learn!
I have students with learning disabilities, students who have experienced trauma.
Yet all of my students are still children - mischievous, playful, inquisitive, eager for information and compassion.
