Thank you for your interest in supporting my students in the Bronx! Over the last year and a half, I have worked tirelessly to expand my classroom library from consisting of no books to needing to purchase more bookshelves to hold new acquisitions. Book by book and day by day, I'm working to transform the culture of reading at my school. But I can't do it without your help!
Students who read, experience its positive effects in all areas of their lives such as developing empathy, the ability to effectively cope with stress and greater success in school. My goal is to turn all of my students into avid readers. This is possible only if my classroom is filled with high-interest, engaging stories that will turn even the most reluctant readers into voracious ones. Books like "All American Boys," "Monster," and "The Hate U Give" will be of particular interest to my social justice-oriented students.
Because of your generosity, I have hope that each of my students will find books to fall in love with, share with each other and remember for years to come. Thank you!
